Audio-books aren’t just for the old

How often do you take time to sit down and read a book? For me it isn’t very often. I have too many projects I am working on in my free time. Like writing a book! Yet reading is very important for your brain health. I’m no brain scientist, I’ll let you read those long studies on your own.

I have found it very enjoyable and motivating to listen to audiobooks when I am working out.

It serves a few different purposes for me. I first get wrapped up in the book and the workouts go by much faster. When running or doing cardio time you get lost in the book rather than the never ending boredom of cardio! Yeah you know what I’m talking about.

Listening to them also give me another thing to look forward to. Got to hit the gym so I can keep the story going and find out what happens next! Just another way to help keep yourself motivated and going to the gym.

Lastly, it is a great way to still make time for reading. I like to say I am exercising my muscles and my brain at the same time. Some say they need music to “pump” them up or keep them at a pace running. For me it is books!

I don’t know how many times people have teased me for proudly stating I listen to audiobooks, but once I share my reasoning, they declare, “okay, maybe they aren’t just for old people.”

It works for me, it may not be your cup of tea. What have you got to lose, just hit stop and then turn on your favorite T-Swift song and keep on grooving.

What is on your gym playlist: Music or books?
